JOB FUNCTION / SUMMARY:
The Mortgage Direct Loan Originator is responsible for the origination of primarily conventional, VA, and FHA loans, compliant with investor requirements and all state and federal laws and regulations. The Mortgage Direct Loan Originator is focused on the use of digital platforms and technology to streamline the mortgage process, providing exceptional digital services and solutions to existing and potential clients with a focus on inclusive banking opportunities. By leveraging digital analytics, engaging in consultations, and utilizing the company’s digital communication tools and platforms, the Mortgage Direct Loan Originator is expected to build and maintain relationships that allow for the sourcing of additional products and services related to marketing and sales initiatives. The Mortgage Direct Loan Originator is responsible for diligently following up on leads provided by the company using various contact methods, ensuring careful management and effective conversion of these opportunities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain proactive and continuous communication with clients throughout the loan process, utilizing digital platforms to provide updates, gather documentation, and address inquiries.
- Discuss and consult on loan products and qualification criteria, providing digital support and guidance to current and potential clients to enhance their understanding and comfort with the mortgage process and the bank’s services.
- Engage in digital marketing and outreach efforts to promote loan products and services, utilizing Encompass (LOS), Sales Relationship Management (CRM) Salesforce, Five9, and any other tools provided for this purpose to maximize sales results.
- Apply digital tools for the analysis of loan applications, financial data, and client needs to make informed decisions and recommendations, improving the customer experience.
- Stay abreast of technological advancements and digital trends in the mortgage banking industry, employing a variety of tools, knowledge, and platforms to optimize loan processing, underwriting, and customer service.
- Ensure all digital mortgage processes comply with state and federal regulations and laws for acceptable lending practices.
- Utilize technology to streamline operations, reduce errors, and increase the efficiency and speed of loan approvals.
- Adhere to set goals and metrics measuring performance and sales effectiveness.
- Collaborate with associates throughout the bank to generate referrals that align clients with the appropriate channel.
- Respond promptly to inbound inquiries and actively engage with provided outbound leads during designated business hours.

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE:
- High School Diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- 3 years of sales experience &/or success as an individual contributor required.
- 3 years of Mortgage origination experience or retail/Financial Center experience is preferred.
- This position requires National Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS) registration under the SAFE Act of 2008. As such, upon active employment you will be required to either register on NMLS or re-register and move your previous registration. Your continued employment in this position is contingent upon successful registration immediately after your start date and annual renewal of your registration thereafter. In addition, information obtained during the registration process may impact your employment.
- Possess and maintain the active knowledge required to consult on secondary mortgage lending programs, procedures, and policies and how they relate to any applicable systems and technologies.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
- Proficient in operating and navigating multiple (banking) systems and applications, utilizing system tools to locate information and complete tasks.

- Ability to travel if required to perform the essential job functions.
- Ability to read, interpret, and explain a document if required to perform the essential job functions.
- Ability to lift/move/carry approximately 10 pounds if required to perform the essential job functions. If the employee is unable to lift/move/carry this weight and can be accommodated without causing the department/division an “undue hardship” then the employee must be accommodated; hence omitting lifting/moving/carrying as a physical requirement.
