The Senior Cost Accountant leads Cost Accounting within the Enterprise Resource Planning system (ERP) to ensure accurate valuation of inventory.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Investigates, analyzes, and reports on transactions and manufacturing variances in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Collaborates with manufacturing engineering, maintains the accuracy and reliability of BOMs and routings.
- Prepares journal entries, account reconciliations, and analysis for all inventory-related activities including material consumption, labor and overhead.
- Performs settlement process to cost inventory production.
- Assists in the development of direct labor, absorption and overhead rates used for annual standard cost rolls.
- Assists in the preparation of weekly and monthly operational reports focusing on key performance indicators.
- Analyzes aged, obsolete, and excess inventory to establish reserves in accordance with corporate policy.
- Maintains fixed assets ledgers and monitors status of capital projects to ensure proper accounting treatment.
- Coordinates with IT department for system issues, maintenance, and development such as production, purchasing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, receiving, shipping, and other.
- Collaborates with operation and supply chain teams to optimize inventory management and cost control.
- Support month-end close process, including journal entries related to inventory and fixed assets.
- Assist with all audits.
- Prepare monthly cost reports and assist in budget preparation.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- Five + (5) years of experience in cost accounting.
- Advanced MS Excel skills: Advance formula creation, data analysis, visualization, pivot table and charts, macro development, modelling/forecasting, database functions, power queries, dashboard creation, data integration, excel power tools such as power pivot, power view, and power map.
- Proficient in MS Office products; highly proficient with SAP.
- Excellent organizational and follow-through skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong collaborator and teamwork abilities.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Five + (5) years of experience in cost accounting.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be occasionally required to execute standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. stand, walk, sit, use hands/fingers).
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be occasionally required to execute non-standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch).
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
- This position requires repetitive hand/wrist activities.
