Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Senior Buyer/Planner to join our dynamic team. This role is crucial in managing the procurement process, ensuring that all materials and products are sourced efficiently and effectively to meet production demands. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in logistics, inventory management, and production planning, with proficiency in relevant systems such as SAP ERP and AS400.
Duties
- Develop and implement purchasing strategies to optimize inventory levels and minimize costs.
- Negotiate pricing and terms with suppliers to secure the best possible deals.
- Collaborate with production teams to forecast demand and plan inventory accordingly.
- Monitor inventory levels and manage stock replenishment processes.
- Utilize SAP ERP and AS400 systems for tracking orders, managing supplier relationships, and reporting on procurement activities.
- Analyze market trends to identify potential supply chain risks and opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures in all purchasing activities.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier performance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
- Proven experience in procurement or supply chain management, particularly in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of logistics, production planning, and inventory management practices.
- Proficiency in SAP ERP systems; experience with AS400 is a plus.
- Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to build strong supplier relationships.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and specifications.
- Experience purchasing machined parts.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
