Summary/Objective
The Senior Accountant is the backup to the Controller. This position will handle account reconciliations, AP/AR, bank reconciliations, and support the team with financial analysis and reporting in conjunction with our Financial Analyst.
Primary Responsibilities
Financial Close Process
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including the preparation and review of journal entries and accruals
- Update supporting financial schedules and reconcile to general ledger
- Reconcile all bank accounts
- Cost accounting experience a plus
- Assisting in the budgeting and forecasting process
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance efficiency and accuracy in accounting processes
Other On-Going
- The role involves monitoring checking account activity on a daily basis, processing daily deposits, and reconciling American Express payments. Additionally, the position requires overseeing Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, and addressing any exceptions.
Payroll
- Serves as a backup to HR and will occasionally do payroll runs
Customer Service
- Performs outstanding customer service for both internal and external customers
- Assists with analysis functions for other company departments
Required Skills and Experience
- The ideal candidate will possess a BS/BA in accounting or equivalent experience, along with 3-7 years of related experience. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and time management are essential. The role requires effective communication with all levels both inside and outside the company, as well as knowledge of sales and use tax.
Preferred Software Experience
- Expert at Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Epicor/Kinetic experience preferred, but not required

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work/Location
This is a full-time exempt position. Schedule is standard business hours and reflects industry standards for professional accounting staff, and as such, there will be additional hours required during periods of month-end and year-end close. The position is based in Viking's main office location. This is not a hybrid or remote position.
