This position supports the Operating Unit (“OU”) Tax Planning team focusing on federal and international income tax issues specific to the various Operating Units (“OUs”) primarily within the Neuroscience Portfolio as well as supporting the tax forecasting process. This position will provide exposure to a broad range of tax topics as well as the ability to collaborate with colleagues in the wider Tax Department, the Neuroscience Portfolio, OUs, and Corporate Functions throughout Medtronic. The primary roles of this position will be to support tax planning initiatives related to the primary OUs, prepare calculations supporting business initiatives, prepare forecasts for certain OU operations, and respond to tax audit inquiries. In addition, there may be opportunities to support non-primary OUs. This position will report to the Director of OU Tax Planning responsible for the Neuroscience Portfolio.

A Day in the LifeResponsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:
- Develop a solid understanding of all Neuroscience OUs, including significant products, organization structure, location of key operations, supply chains, and legal entity structure.
- Understand all the OUs tax planning strategies and support any changes to those strategies in close collaboration with the Director and other tax department members.
- Prepare quarterly forecast calculations for multiple OUs across multiple jurisdictions. This position will require interacting and working closely with the OU and corporate finance teams to update tax forecasts for actual results and updated business projections and to ensure forecast reflects the organization's long-term business objectives.
- At the direction of the Director, support tax analysis related to the significant OU led initiatives, including manufacturing, supply chain changes and integrations, to determine how they impact current tax planning strategies and/or evaluate for potential new tax planning opportunities as well as tax risk mitigation planning.
- Work closely with other tax department groups, especially the transfer pricing and regional tax teams, to maintain and defend tax strategies related to each OU.
- Assist the Director with various federal, state, international, and indirect tax issues related to operational changes in the OUs including, but not limited to, manufacturing site transfers, intellectual property matters, integrations, and supply chain issues.
- Collaborate with other tax department members to be able to address needs, risks, and opportunities related to each of the OUs.
- Collaborate with other tax department members to address changes in tax compliance, audit examinations, or other processes that will impact each OU as they arise.
- Support Regional Tax & Tax Audit by assisting with responses to International, Federal and State Audit IDRs and proposed adjustments, as well as supporting responses on appeals and litigation related business unit tax matters.
- Assist other OU Tax Directors on various tax projects, as needed and to the extent workload allows.
- Assist the Income Tax Accounting, Tax Planning, Tax Audit, Tax Compliance, Regional Tax and Transfer Pricing teams on various requests.
- Become proficient at extrapolating information out of the financial accounting systems (primarily SAP & Hyperion/CXF/CMR).
- Identify areas of improvement and work towards optimization, innovation, and improvements of current processes.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements- Bachelor’s degree plus 4+ years of U.S. Federal and/or International income tax experience, Transfer Pricing experience, or Medtronic finance experience (2+ years with an Advanced Degree).
Nice to Have- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting, or an advanced degree with comparable emphasis in business, accounting, or taxation.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Masters in Tax or other advanced taxation degree.
- Strong PC Skills, including Excel and financial accounting systems (SAP, Hyperion).
- Strong oral and written skills.
- Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Good decision making and problem-solving skills.
- Strong analytical skills related to finance and operating situations, along with the ability to perform detailed work.
- Flexible - able to adjust to changing priorities.
- Ability to grow by assuming an increased level of responsibility.

The provided base salary range is used nationally (except in certain CA locations). The rate offered is compliant with federal/local regulations and may vary by experience, certification/education, market conditions, location, etc.
