This position serves as one of the Risk Management Section recognized resource for complex activities pertaining to civil processes against the Department and its members, providing research and reference support as well as civil process coordination. This position will be assigned districts/divisions by management based on operational need. This position researches and analyzes state and federal court rules, court cases, new statutes, new administrative rules, and disciplinary actions of other law enforcement agencies to determine how to process and move through litigation to properly represent its member. This position is responsible for coordinating the discovery process including evaluating and determining acceptability of interrogatories, subpoenas, depositions, requests for production of documents and orders to produce. This position is the liaison with the Attorney General’s Office, other agencies and organizations to coordinate civil litigation and court related matters pertaining to MSP and/or its members. This position assists Risk Management Manager with the litigation process by developing and assessing litigation case material and documentation. This position is required to perform duties in a bias free manner.
Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.
Experience: Three years of professional experience, including one year of experience equivalent to the experienced (P11) level in state service. Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school and the equivalent of at least two years of full-time active-duty experience at or above the E-6 level in the uniformed services may be substituted for the education requirement.
