The Accounting Manager will manage accounting activities to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, corporate policies, and external audits. This person will manage the accounts' payable function, payroll function, monthly closing of accounts, and preparation of reports in support of the financial statements. The Accounting Manager will manage the accounting team and work with others in the organization in analysis and reconciliation of accounts and in the development and implementation of accounting policies, procedures, and controls. The accounting manager possesses leadership capabilities, solid operational and technical accounting background, is a self-starter, is flexible, and holds a high level of integrity.
Job Duties:
- Manage the monthly financial close process, including ensuring all costs incurred are properly recorded, reviewing journal entries, account balance reconciliations, and report preparation.
- Participate in the ongoing development/establishment of accounting policies and procedures and operational strategies including the review and implementation of process and system changes.
- Continued focus on improving system efficiencies and business practices.
- Ensure compliance with internal control policies in a SOX environment.
- Collaborate with external auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance.
- Interacts at all levels and with budget owners or other stakeholders to produce timely, efficient, and accurate month-end closing and all internal management and financial reporting through annual report.
- Prepare detailed journal entries and account analyses.
- Assist with compilation of information for preparation of tax returns.
- Make recommendations for changes as needed to ensure that company policies and procedures are followed and establish the proper techniques to discover and prevent fraud.
- Coordinate and manage all tax return data, information, and collation.
- Prepare summary feedback of financial statement variances to budget.
- Actively review and advise on financial/accounting processes.
- Analyze the effect of statutory accounting practices and study regulations and guidance to ensure the correct application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Supervise all accounting associates, manage their capacity and workload allocation, hold them accountable, and provide training and development.
Preferred Skills:
- CPA
- Master degree or MBA highly desirable
- ADP proficiency
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting
- Accounting certificate
- 6 plus years of accounting experience
- Experience with Financial Edge and Raiser's Edge.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent - CPA preferred
- 5+ years of management experience in a corporate setting
- Exceptionally motivated, organized, and detail-oriented; team player with a willingness to help where desired.
- Familiarity with investment brokerage statements
- Professionalism and discretion
- Significant experience preparing complex audit schedules.
