This position is located in the Finance Department and is responsible for processing revenue collections and performing Accounting Clerk activities and functions. The position reports to the Accounting Manager and does not supervise staff.
ACCOUNTING FUNCTIONS- Processes all revenue receipts for offices, departments, and districts of the County.
- Organizes and secures daily revenues and prepares deposits for pickup by armored transport provider.
- Audits cash balances for offices and departments as necessary to maintain internal audit controls.
- Reconciles the Holding account.
- Obtains change order from the bank, as necessary in regards to daily deposit processing.
- Manages the retention schedule.
- Creates and maintains user manuals and provides end-user training for the County’s financial accounting system.
OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNEDPerforms a variety of other duties as assigned by supervisor. This includes participating in special projects, occasionally filling in for other employees, participating in ongoing training, and a variety of other functions as needed. If the County Commission proclaims a local emergency due to an actual or threatened disaster such as an earthquake, fire, riot, flood, etc., County employees may be required to provide services during the emergency and for a subsequent period of assessment and recovery.
This work requires knowledge of, or the ability to gain knowledge of, technical accounting, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and county accounting policies and procedures; skill in the use of customized accounting systems and software; and the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; exercise courtesy and tact in receiving the public; and establish and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
The required knowledge, skills, and abilities are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to a technical program or apprenticeship and at least one to two (1-2) years of related work experience in technical accounting procedures.
Licenses and Certifications: Applicants for this position must possess a valid driver’s license, provide own transportation to conduct out of office job duties (mileage reimbursement provided under the County policy), and to be insurable under the County’s liability policies.
As a condition of hire, the final candidate will be required to successfully pass a criminal history check and background investigation.
