Base Salary Range (dependent on experience)
$63,000 - $103,000

Role Description:
The Investment Associate analyzes and researches financial markets, securities, and investment products to assess risks, evaluate potential returns, and make informed investment decisions for an organization. Collects and researches economic data, financial metrics, and market conditions to develop and build financial models, forecasts, and investment strategies. Monitors and analyzes portfolio performance, asset allocation, and risk exposure to ensure alignment with the organization's investment objectives, strategies, and risk tolerance levels. Prepares investment reports and analyses on investment opportunities or strategies to identify trends and recommend actions for the organization. Utilizes mathematical formulas and statistical analyses to identify potential or alternative investments and calculate and evaluate financial health, returns, and fair value of securities, assets, or other investments.
Reporting Structure
This position will report to the Vice President of Operations.
Responsibilities
- Provide extensive financial modeling and analytical support for current and future investments.
- Provide development and ongoing support of the funds marketing materials, pitch books, and other deliverables.
- Engage in all aspects of investment due diligence, research, business case analysis, and investment thesis refinement.
- Create, refine, and prepare investment documentation including, but not limited to, investment memoranda, standardized financial models, etc.
- Assist in creating and maintaining data room.
- Participate in active monitoring of portfolio investments.
- Communicate with current and future Limited Partners/Fund Investors and other fund partners.
- Communicate and coordinate with fund service providers (i.e. fund administrators, auditors, attorneys, placement agents).
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree - Finance, Economics, Accounting, Math or Sciences preferred.
- Minimum of either:
- Two years post undergraduate experience at an investment fund, family office investment bank or other department or division engaged in portfolio management;
- Two years of experience in related field such as accounting, banking or financial planning and analysis, and have passed Level 1 of the CFA exam; or
- One year of experience at an investment fund, family office, investment bank or other portfolio management entity and have passed Level 1 of the CFA exam.
- Interest in/working towards graduate degree or obtaining CFA credential. Superb quantitative, financial modeling, and problem-solving skills.
- Inquisitive, curious, and creative mindset; ability to analyze a variety of different alternative investment types.
- Familiar with topics in structured finance (LBOs, Securitization, Asset Backed Securities, etc.)
- Familiar with Insurance Linked Securities (ILS)
- Passion for investing, learning, and creating.
- Desire to work in an entrepreneurial environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Comfortable interacting and communicating with internal and external parties, including senior management teams.
- Superior knowledge and use of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office suite.
- Experience in other financial modeling tools such as Python.
- Experience with Bloomberg, FactSet, Pitchbook, or other financial subscription products.
- Ability to self-direct and take ownership of processes and projects.
