This position plays a vital role within the Special Servicing Department and will work closely with the Director of Servicing Operations and the Portfolio Management team to analyze risks within a portfolio of business purpose loans with the goal of mitigating potential losses. This position will report directly to the Director of Servicing Operations.
Responsibilities:
- The selected candidate will be responsible for the various asset management activities in analyzing, monitoring, and evaluating projects.
- The Asset Manager will manage a portfolio of criticized and distressed commercial real estate loans, across multiple property types, with risk management and loss mitigation as primary objectives.
- Administer the workout or exit of complex transactions through restructuring debt, negotiating settlement agreements, pursuit of appropriate legal action and/or collateral liquidation through note sales.
- The positions could be responsible for all product types, which include Multifamily, New Construction, Fix & Flip, and Rental loans.
- Responsible for minimizing potential losses to the company by identifying areas of concern and/or opportunities, and reports on potential and/or known issues and implements solutions.
- This person provides continuous monitoring of risks in the portfolio and proposes action plans directed towards resolving further potential deterioration.
- Create, generate, and maintain monthly and quarterly asset performance reports for internal and external use.
- Travel to designated assets to gain an understanding of condition and to meet with sponsors, vendors, appraisers where required.
- Prepare recommendations on troubled assets for presentation to senior management and investors.
- Monitoring of delinquencies, operating statements, watchlists, and collateral condition reports.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, real estate or related field is preferred.
- 5-7+ years of asset management or other related field.
- Prior experience in private lending is preferred.
- Must understand loan documentation, and real estate on a business level.
- Provide an excellent customer experience to internal and external clients.
- Ability to perform detailed research and follow through to completion.
- Strong organization and time management skills.
- Strong problem solving, data collection, analysis, and decision-making skills.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to work under minimum supervision and manage tight deadlines.
