OVERVIEW
The Product Analyst is responsible for analyzing and modeling existing business processes to understand and document current business procedures, identify areas for improvement, and define those areas for engineering to improve. The incumbent will identify best practices and suggest ways to improve current practices within BAL’s proprietary software. Develops recommendations to solve problems and issues related to business operations within the product(s).
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Uses modeling tools to diagram the current state of business processes as well as the desired future state.
- Creates detailed Project Requirement Document (PRD) and translate it into functional specifications.
- Runs scrum ceremony meetings such as stand ups, sprint planning, sprint demos, etc.
- Works with product leadership to turn high level requirements into user stories for sprint prioritization.
- Works with product leadership on constructing a product roadmap.
- Works with development team tech leads to create technical requirements into user stories.
- Communicate with external and internal clients on gathering requirements and change management when new features are shipped.
- Creates product documentation, such as release notes, diagrams, etc.
- Leads Integration Testing, User Acceptance Testing (UAT – including writing scripts and environment setup), and Functionality Testing.
- Reports bugs found in product(s) through the appropriate channel.
- Has the ability to demo the product(s) and explain product functionality.
- Categorizes and catalogues product feature/functionality requests that come in from business users and/or clients.
- Efficiently manages multiple projects with competing deadlines.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 3 – 5 years of experience working as a Business Analyst or Data Analyst.
- 3+ years of product owner/business analyst duties such as requirements gathering and user story writing.
- 3+ years of working within an SDLC agile environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Mathematics, Statistics or equivalent discipline.
- Experience working in a SDLC environment with scrum ceremonies.
- Experience working as the product owner role in scrum.
- Expertise in the use of JIRA for tracking sprints and roadmap planning.
- Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in diagraming software architecture and/or processes for documentation purposes.
- Able to maintain a sedentary position for up to 90% of the work day.
- Able to type and to grasp, grip, push and pull file drawers and doors.
- Able to walk and climb stairs or use elevator to coordinate with other departments.
- Able to bend, stoop, kneel and/or stand to access files and documents.
- Able to lift up to 25 lbs of files and/or boxes.
