Job Title: Senior Accountant

What you'll do:
The position of Senior Accountant is responsible for assisting with the accounting and financial reporting of the Company. This position reports to the Financial Reporting Manager and is primarily focused on preparing and maintaining regulatory reports filed with the Federal Reserve and OCC. This position also ensures compliance with SOX, all policies, procedures, as well as all applicable state and federal banking regulations.
What we are looking for:
- Assist with the implementation of new regulatory reporting software.
- Assist with Large Financial Institution Readiness (LFI), including but not limited to Y-14 M/Q/A, Y-15, FFIEC 031, and Basel Endgame.
- Work closely with the Financial Reporting Manager to complete all regulatory reports, including quarterly reports (Call Report, FR Y-9C, FR Y-9LP), monthly reports (TIC Reports), weekly reports (FR 2644 and FR 2900), and daily reports (FR2420 CD and FE).
- Perform analytical reviews over regulatory reports, including variance analysis and explanation, reconciliations between the general ledger and various reporting systems.
- Maintain accurate desktop procedures to ensure accuracy and alignment with current practices.
- Participate in the Quality Assurance process for in-scope regulatory reports, including preparing and maintaining narrative documents, attestation packages, and certifications. Perform walkthroughs with the business lines and data providers to ensure conformity with report instructions.
- Assist in accounting and reporting for complex transactions such as loan sales, acquisitions, and disposals, goodwill impairment valuations, and other transactions that require research and analysis.
- Provide support to all assigned areas in the Accounting Department where service or assistance is needed.
- Guide and train junior staff as required or assigned.
- Contribute to interpretation and implementation of accounting pronouncement and regulatory reporting changes.
- Interface with management, external auditors, and regulatory agencies.
What you need to have:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or business is required.
- CPA license is preferred.
- 3-5 years accounting experience with progressively increased responsibility, preferably within a financial services firm, is required.
- Minimum of two (2) years public accounting experience is preferred.
- Thorough understanding of GAAP is required.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Exceptional analytical and organization skills.
- Effectively interact with all levels within the Company and subsidiaries.
- Ability to deal with difficult problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized environments.
- Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Access.
