Cost Accountant

Vaco is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Cost Accountant to join the team with one of our PE-backed large-scale manufacturing, signage and printing clients.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing costs associated with production, tracking expenditures, and providing financial insights to help improve profitability and efficiency - the first 6 months will be focused on costing with margin analysis and modeling further down the line.
Our client envisions this person eventually moving into a Plant Controller position with full P&L and Balance Sheet responsibilities further down the line.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze production costs and determine cost-effectiveness of operations. Identify areas for cost reduction and improvement.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts. Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis.
- Conduct regular inventory audits and reconcile physical counts with financial records. Monitor inventory valuation methods.
- Prepare detailed cost reports for management, highlighting trends and variances. Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Ensure adherence to financial regulations and standards. Maintain accurate cost accounting records and documentation.
- Work closely with production, procurement, and finance teams to gather relevant data and insights. Provide financial support for decision-making.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in cost accounting practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Cost Accountant or in a similar role.
- Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and methodologies.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
