STAFF ACCOUNTANT - CARROLLTON, TX.
OVERVIEW:
The Staff Accountant will be a critical member of the general ledger team and will support the Sr. Accounting Manager in completing the monthly closing process for the Corporate entity by booking recurring and non-recurring journal entries, completing balance sheet reconciliations, performing variance analysis for an assigned group of accounts, and completing additional ad hoc reporting as assigned. This role will also assist in preparing schedules and providing backup and support for the annual audit as requested. The candidate exhibits a positive, hard-working attitude in a fast-paced environment and has strong interpersonal, analytical, and accounting skills. This person has high attention to detail and is highly driven and self-motivated, willing to dive in and solve problems with little direction.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Complete monthly period-end close related tasks including preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and cost/variance analysis, ensuring accurate, consistent, and timely reporting of financial results (currently 4-5 day close).
- Prepare annual external audit requests as required in a timely and accurate manner.
- Assist the Sr. Accounting Manager with research as needed and locating audit selections.
- Maintain schedules related to property tax filings and work with 3rd party to collect deliverables and submit all required filing documentation accurately and on-time to fulfill requirements.
- Assist plant locations with property tax audit needs as required.
- Assist with Sales & Use tax filings for all locations – coordinating deadlines, ensuring reports have been filed, registrations are complete, and all notices are addressed.
- On an ad hoc basis, assist with Financial Reporting, Managerial Reporting, monthly presentation slides, and financial analysis.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and utilize tools to innovate existing processes.
- Learn and leverage technology and tools – Catalyst, Power BI, Deacom, and other potential solutions.
- Other duties as required from time-to-time, to be determined.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
- Three or more years of hands-on, accounting experience, with a demonstrated understanding of US GAAP.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Highly motivated, results-oriented, able to complete assignments in a timely and accurate manner.
- Skilled at problem solving, analyzing complex sets of data, and developing conclusions.
- Excellent task management and follow-up skills.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and other MS products.
- Demonstrated knowledge, proficiency, and comfort-level with ERP and BI solutions.
- Team focused with the ability to provide support and add value when the need arises while also contributing to a positive and productive work environment.
WHAT WE'D LIKE TO SEE:
- Prior experience in manufacturing, distribution or similar environment.
- Experience in food and beverage industry a plus.
- Experience working in a private-equity backed portfolio company.
- Experience in public accounting, a plus.
