SUMMARY: Staff Accountant
Working in connection with the CFO and Controller performs balance sheet account reconciliations, cash clearing, supports credit & collection activities and special assignments, as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepares monthly reconciliations of assigned general ledger accounts.
- Enters Journal Entries as needed.
- Performs the cash clearing process within SAP.
- Assists with collection activities (statements, collection emails or calls and documenting activity in Navpoint, as needed).
- Make recommendations to write off bad debt accounts.
- Backup person for verifying prospect information in Navpoint before converting to a customer in SAP.
- Initiates the credit research process.
- Investigates and verifies financial status and reputation of prospective customers applying for credit, prepares documents to substantiate findings, and recommends rejection/hold or approval of orders and shipments (orders over $5,000).
- Establish credit limits on customer accounts.
- Assists with related special projects as required.
- Supports and upholds Quality and EHS policy.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associate degree in accounting or business administration; or 3-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
