Student Housing is a self-funded, large and complex campus department consisting of 6 housing communities and 3 support units, with more than 280 staff employees, 300-400 student employees and an annual operating budget of $120 million. Student Housing provides housing for approximately 9,000 undergraduates, graduate students and their families in over 250 buildings and approximately 3.3 million sq. ft. Currently, Student Housing houses 51% of UCI's enrolled students (in conjunction with American Campus Communities, UCI's 3rd party housing partner) with a goal of housing 60% as part of the campus Long Range Development Plan (LRDP). Student Housing also provides maintenance and repair services to student residents.
Your Role on the Team
Under the general direction of the Assistant Director of Strategic Financial Operations, serves as the primary Finance and Business Analyst for a Student Housing functional area. The incumbent monitors and analyzes accounts such as operating and major maintenance accounts, prepares monthly financial reports, facilitates preparation of annual budget, participates in annual and short/long-range financial planning processes, and coordinates fiscal closing. Incumbent participates in organizational policy making, planning, and problem solving. Assists in developing process and project metrics to increase efficiency/efficacy of financial and procurement business processes, conducts routine and ad hoc analysis and reporting. Daily financial management including oversight of procurement activity and records. Provides support in consultation, review, and approval of various requisitions. Reviews and approves PALCard/Managed Spend Card transactions, and maintains, collects, and prepares information/data that is required for routine and/or ad hoc reporting/analysis. Uses professional concepts. Applies organizational policies and procedures to resolve various issues. Works on problems of limited to moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of multiple factors. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Contacts are primarily internal to the department but may also be external. Assists with long-range financial planning, capital projects, and financial forecasting systems.
This position must work on-site at least once a week.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $30.55- $35.00 (Hourly).
Required:
- Working knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems.
- Ability to gather reasonably retrievable information to organize, and perform basic financial analysis assignments, make recommendations and implement solutions as assigned.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively present information verbally and in writing clearly and concisely. Ability to communicate and interact effectively with a broad variety of individuals in person, on the phone, and in writing.
- Demonstrated ability using spreadsheet and database software for moderately complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports. Knowledge of Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills at all levels within the unit; excellent service orientation and critical thinking skills; and attention to detail. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of constituencies including administrators, staff, students, and vendors. Ability to function as a member of a team.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities. Ability to respond with flexibility and efficiency to frequent changes in task focus, competing priorities, and multiple deadlines.
- Intermediate knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources. Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information. Ability to exercise good judgment and professionalism.
- Accounting and financial analysis experience. Skill to prepare budgetary reports. Ability to maintain and reconcile multiple accounts. Ability to complete budgetary forecasting and analysis. Knowledge of general accounting principles and practices. Ability to conduct basic statistical analysis.
- Demonstrated ability using organizational skills to multi-task in a high-volume environment. Skill in taking initiative, setting priorities, and managing time to complete work in a timely manner. Ability to work independently and to follow through on assignments with minimal supervision.
- Ability to compose reports, letters, instructions, and other documents with attention to clarity, tone, composition, and mechanics.
- Working knowledge of the campus computer financial systems, including but not limited to Kuali Financial Systems (KFS) and Decision Support.
- Knowledge of accounting systems, procedures and documents for campus and Housing.
- Bachelor's degree in economics, business administration, political science, or related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in budget analysis or administration; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred:- Knowledge of procurement systems, procedures and document preparation.
- General understanding and knowledge of Student Housing and Student Housing business operations.
