Position Summary:
Responsible for the Allergy Division’s fiscal and administrative oversight, and accountable to the Internal Medicine Chair, Department Administrator, and Division Chief for adherence to all UNMC and Nebraska Medicine (NM) policies & procedures. Coordinate the division’s business affairs, manage its non-faculty personnel, and work with UNMC and NM regarding the division’s finances, clinical billing, and collection activities. Work with multiple partner organizations (UNMC, NM, VA, and Children’s Nebraska) to accomplish the educational, research and clinical goals of the department and division. Collaborate with the Division Chief on long-range planning and development and management to coordinate the division’s business affairs and productivity measures. Responsible for multiple ongoing budget preparation, grant administration, and federal progress reporting. Collaborate with the Nebraska Medicine Service Line management regarding financial and clinical matters.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Management, Finance, Public Health, Education, or related field. (Will consider additional related post high school education in lieu of required experience)
- Experience: 2 years of progressive management experience to include experience with financial and personnel management. (Will consider additional related post high school education in lieu of required experience)
- Computer Applications: Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- General business acumen and vision to include: common sense, good judgment, negotiation skills, accounting, financial statement knowledge including accurate interpretation and analysis, and ability to anticipate and forecast programmatic needs of the business unit/college.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Advanced proficiency in analytic reasoning and strategic planning to formulate budgets and administrative policies and processes.
- Understanding of regulatory framework and internal controls (financial and compliance) and ability to apply them within the business unit/college.
- Ability to assess risk and problem solve by critically evaluating alternative courses of action and arriving at solutions that are best for both the business unit/college and UNMC.
- Understanding of human resource administration and related regulatory environment.
- Exhibits a style of participatory leadership and fosters a climate of respect and collegiality.
- Working knowledge of related technological resources/software to include enterprise systems and the MS Office suite.
- Ability to counsel superiors regarding required alternative courses of action.
- Demonstrated ability to develop complex contracts.
Clinical:
- Ability to collaborate and manage across multiple organizations.
- Advanced understanding of health care financial management concepts.
- Understanding of principles, methods and procedures of modern health care administration and organization.
Research:
- Understanding of pre-award budget preparation and related regulations.
- Understanding of post-award administration including set-up process, reconciliation, regular review, progress reports and close-out process.
