Scope of Position
The Ohio State University Hospitals (The Hospitals) is a large academic Medical Center. The Hospitals includes a Comprehensive Transplant Center, a PPS-Exempt TEFRA Cancer Hospital and Distinct Part Psychiatric & Rehabilitation Units. Five hospital financial statements are maintained; net revenue is reported individually. Two Medicare Cost Reports are filed. The position's responsibilities include preparation and review of third-party Cost Report filings, Cost Report audits, month-end settlement estimates, and other required Governmental Filings. The position assists in the management of the Reimbursement Department including: tracking project status, reviewing completed projects, educating professional staff, and monitoring regulations and payment rate changes. Responsible for day-to-day departmental operations and activities of reimbursement professional staff. Responsible for process improvements including goal setting, process reviews, policy and procedure development, and process documentation and standardization. Cost Report preparation and review includes completing analytical reviews, working with operations to verify the accuracy of cost report statistics, cost allocations, and settlements. The position maintains third-party liability accounts and completes variance financial analysis. Works with the Financial Auditors on settlement and allowance schedules and responds to audit requests. Provides support for other third-party requests both internal and external.
Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Director, Reimbursement, the Finance Reimbursement Senior Consultant is responsible for the annual filing of accurate third-party cost reports. The position is responsible for achieving accurate third-party reimbursement for the Hospital. The position is required to use extensive interpersonal skills in communicating with all management levels of the University Hospitals. Works closely with hospital operations, patient financial services, consultants, State and Federal reimbursement staff, and Ohio Hospital Association staff.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and 8 years of hospital reimbursement or Medicare audit experience.
