Senior Staff Accountant
The Senior Staff Accountant position is responsible for managing accounting and balancing personnel, account reconciliations, business insurance, monthly close and financial reporting. In this role, the individual is responsible for posting entries to the general ledger, ensuring compliance with standard operating procedures, spot audits of expenses/reports and unusual activity, bank reconciliations, closely monitoring daily deposits, cash flow forecasts, maintaining confidentiality of sensitive financial and other sensitive business information and completing a considerable amount of the monthly closing entries. The position reports to the Controller or Accounting Manager.
Responsibilities include:
- Supervision of Accounting Assistant, and assigning tasks and responsibilities, including AR collections and AP payments to ensure minimum cash flow thresholds and invoicing customers
- Monitors cash flow activity
- Reviews daily deposits from operations
- Maintains banking relations and online activities
- Completes monthly bank and account reconciliations
- Works with purchasing to verify cost of sales and inventory for financial statements
- Manages month-end closing journal entries, account reconciliations and reporting
- Maintains control of employee expenses and credit cards
- Posting entries to the General Ledger in accordance with GAAP principles
- Performing internal audits and investigations associated with financial issues
- Providing reports to sales and operations personnel as requested
- Issue monthly management and investor information reports
- Maintains property and liability insurance
- Monitor the financial performance of the company and its subsidiaries by collecting, interpreting, and analyzing financial data
- Monitor accounting and payment of income taxes and other compliant tax payments
- Ensure the appropriate internal controls are in place and followed
- Consult and provide strategic support to management to optimize revenues and strengthen relationships with ownership
- Ensure that all financial activities are accounted for in compliance with GAAP and stay informed on changes to any regulations
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting
- CPA preferred
- 5+ years of accounting experience
- Expert in Quickbooks and Excel
- Experience in Manufacturing environment, including cost accounting, manufacturing overhead, and margin analysis
