As Group14’s Commercial Counsel, you will be responsible for supporting a rapidly growing business development organization leading negotiations, deploying creative strategies to support efficient ramp of Group14’s sales organization. The role joins our growing legal team supporting a global operation. In addition to sales agreements, the Commercial Counsel will be responsible for counseling on a range of commercial agreements and building processes to scale with Group14.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
- Review, revise, and negotiate contracts which include supply agreements, allocation agreements, terms and conditions, and purchase orders in collaboration with Business Development and Legal.
- Develop a leadership role in Group14’s commercial contracting operations by building consensus and balancing risk and commercial success.
- Advise cross-functional partners including business development and senior leadership to identify and mitigate risk in commercial agreements.
- Lead drafting, negotiating, and revising of a wide variety of contracts with a focus on sales agreements and including supplier and vendor agreements.
- Prepare and deliver training, communications, and presentations to employees, management, and executives to drive policy.
- Own, improve, and maintain Group14’s commercial contract templates and related playbooks.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
- Candidates must have 3+ years drafting and negotiating complex sales agreements in a manufacturing, energy, or green-technology company with an emphasis on handling commercial sales OR 5+ years of experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements.
- Experience must include shaping negotiation strategy and focus across company stakeholders.
- A demonstrated ability to understand market terms and where needed identify creative solutions.
- Proficiency in B2B commercial transactions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills when communicating at all levels across the company.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and comfort with the uncertainty associated with building a business.
- Juris Doctorate and in good standing with at least one state bar required.
OTHER QUALITIES WE’D LOVE FOR YOU TO HAVE:
- Experience in a battery company or adjacent or startup experience is beneficial.
- Experience with advanced materials technology such as technical undergraduate or as legal counsel. Preferably in the battery space.
- Experience with B2B sales agreements in the automotive industry.
- Experience working directly with senior stakeholders to balance risk and commercial success.
The annual base salary range for this position is $140,000 - $190,000. All positions come with a bonus plan and company stock options. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, the applicant’s qualifications for the position; years of relevant experience; specific and unique skills; level of education attained; certifications or other professional licenses held; other legitimate, non-discriminatory business factors specific to the position; and the geographic location in which the position is located.
