Databricks is looking for an experienced Procurement contracts negotiator to join Databricks’ GTM and Commercial Legal team. As Senior Contracts Negotiator for Procurement Legal, you will serve an important role in supporting the expansion of our global infrastructure and the needs of our internal business units, as well as working cross-functionally to optimize and scale our sourcing contracting motion. You will report to the Vice President and Associate General Counsel, Head of Legal for Business Development, GTM Programs, and Channel.
The impact you will have:
- Lead and/or assist in negotiations with a broad range of suppliers including strategic technology providers, balancing expansive growth of our internal needs with risk considerations.
- Work closely with internal operational and legal teammates to help ensure that our templates, contract terms, and processes support procurement-related transacting at scale, supporting Databricks’ rapid growth and long-term stability.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including other practice areas within the Databricks legal department, on special projects related to the needs of a range of business units, including product teams.
- Become a subject matter expert and go-to resource to your internal business partners, client groups and colleagues, helping resolve challenges and seizing opportunities for success.
- Help provide program management support to frame, track, and report on the progress of key initiatives.
What we look for:
- JD required; you have 5-7 years of relevant experience, including ideally at least 3 years in-house (preferably at a high-growth company with significant technology needs).
- You have deep experience in contract drafting and negotiation across a range of inbound sourcing agreements (SaaS, software, hardware, professional services, data subscriptions, facilities, marketing, and the like). Familiarity and comfort with negotiating data protection/privacy and security principles are required. You are a contracts-negotiation expert who can advocate for our Company's perspectives and concerns, both when working from supplier-originated contracts and when negotiating from our own standard templates.
- You value client relations and take pride in being responsive and pragmatic. You have a programmatic mind-set, experience with managing multi-faceted projects, and enjoy developing and simplifying processes. Prior experience developing and evolving contract templates would be a plus.
- You value learning and enjoy solving problems while collaborating with internal cross-functional stakeholders on ongoing projects. You are a critical thinker, comfortable speaking up and brainstorming productively, thinking of future needs/issues while executing on current activities.
- You apply a highly collaborative, positive approach to working with legal colleagues and business partners. You have a can-do, hands-on approach in executing, a builder mindset able to work independently but seeking and welcoming supportive input as appropriate.
- You are pragmatic in making recommendations in a fast-paced environment and applying a practical, balanced mindset to legal problem-solving.
