The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in IPO preparation, managing financial functions in a publicly traded environment, and securing various forms of financing, including equity and government grants. A deep understanding of financial management and a proven history of leading rapidly growing organizations through strategic financial transformations is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct all financial functions including accounting, financial planning, tax, treasury, and risk management.
- Act as a strategic financial partner to the CEO, executive team, and Board of Directors to drive sustainable growth and long-term financial success.
- Collaborate closely with the CEO and senior leadership to develop and execute the company’s financial strategies, focusing on long-term planning, capital allocation, and profitability targets.
- Lead financial planning processes, including budgeting, forecasting, and performance tracking, ensuring alignment with the company’s overarching goals.
- Spearhead preparations for a potential IPO, including financial reporting requirements, governance frameworks, and compliance with regulatory mandates.
- Manage equity and debt financing efforts, guiding the company through IPO execution, and ensuring strategic communication with investors and stakeholders.
- Build and maintain investor relationships, providing transparent and compelling financial updates.
- Oversee external audits, manage relationships with auditors, and ensure the company meets all financial reporting and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee the administration and compliance of government grants, particularly within the US and Canada, ensuring that reporting is accurate and funding opportunities are fully leveraged.
- Direct the daily operations of the finance and accounting teams in both the US and Canada.
- Lead investor relations efforts, ensuring the company’s financial story is effectively communicated to current and prospective shareholders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a closely related field; an MBA or advanced degree is preferred.
- Extensive experience as a CFO or in a senior financial leadership role, ideally within fast-growing technology or R&D-driven companies.
- Proven track record in preparing organizations for IPO, including experience with public company financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and governance standards.
- Strong knowledge of both US and Canadian financial regulations.
