Opportunity at a Glance
The Senior Analyst, Strategy & Corporate Development plays a key role in supporting Adtalem Global Education's executive team in the development and execution of key strategic initiatives. This professional will join the Corporate Strategy team and will be involved in a variety of high-impact, high-profile strategy projects to deliver Adtalem's strategic priorities and growth aspirations. The Corporate Strategy team is responsible for enterprise strategy efforts and driving strategic initiatives across all Adtalem institutions and the office of the CEO.
This individual will have the opportunity to support and influence the organization's strategic direction. While principally focused on enterprise strategy activities, the individual will also have exposure to corporate development activities in service of the organization's inorganic growth ambitions. This individual will join a broader Strategy & Corporate Development team comprised of individuals with experience across multiple industries including consulting, investment banking, corporate strategy, corporate development, and private equity.
Responsibilities
CORPORATE STRATEGY
- Competitive intelligence efforts
- Support development of the enterprise competitive intelligence capability and inform business unit efforts.
- Actively monitor competitor news, headlines, market activities, strategies, etc. and synthesize into thoughtful insights to inform corporate strategy efforts and decision-making.
- Research key market, business, and technology dynamics and trends.
- Develop competitive intelligence materials for quarterly Board of Directors meetings.
- Annual strategic planning process
- Support execution of the strategic planning process, including the overall enterprise approach, process timelines, project management, and financial modeling in support of strategic goals.
- Engage in conversations with leaders across the enterprise to gather key inputs for the process.
- Play an integral role in defining the vision and objectives of the annual enterprise strategy discussion for the Board of Directors, and support development of materials.
- Monitor growth initiatives (organic and inorganic) and provide execution support as needed
- Monitor progress on strategic growth initiatives across the enterprise.
- Assist in updating and maintaining strategy scorecards and communicating progress to leadership; inform and monitor KPIs.
- Portfolio strategy
- Conduct internal and external analyses, synthesize business vertical inputs.
- Inform recommendations for new opportunities such as:
- New market entry, portfolio expansion, and pursuit of adjacent markets.
- Develop new offers, services, products; incubate new business models.
- Reposition existing offers to improve competitive position in response to evolving market.
- Wind down, divest, exit market or offers; pare down or narrow scope of offer.
- Special projects and "one-off" strategic initiatives
- Support business case creation and/or analysis for initiatives such as market entry, product/portfolio expansion, customer segmentation, pricing strategies, strategic partnerships, etc.
- Develop actionable insights and support initiative execution as needed.
- Develop C-Suite/Board level presentations highlighting progress on key corporate strategy initiatives.
- Engage in change management and communication efforts as it relates to the enterprise strategy.
CORPORATE DEVELOPMENT
- Synthesize market research and competitive intelligence analyses to support the development of a comprehensive market map for Corporate Development purposes.
- Engage in analyses around whether to buy/build/partner in pursuit of a given strategic objective.
- Serve as thought partner in developing investment theses for inorganic growth opportunities.
- Participate in transactions, valuation, modeling, due diligence, risk assessment, and deal execution.
- Support post-acquisition/strategic initiative evaluations.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required.
- At least 2-4 years of professional experience in a top-tier management consulting firm, investment bank, research organization, or within an equivalent corporate strategy group is preferred.
- Direct experience with growth-oriented (i.e., market segmentation, market entry, strategic acquisition analysis, etc.) projects.
- Experience conducting analysis on target companies, competitors, and markets.
- Superior quantitative and qualitative analytical skills combined with outstanding project management abilities, ability to apply critical thinking as appropriate.
- Strong intuition/first principles thinking around business performance, business drivers, and overall competitive landscape.
- Superior written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to synthesize and clearly articulate information and complex ideas.
- Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
- Demonstrated success as a collaborative team player; capable of working with others and autonomously with modest direction.
- Possess a strong drive and determination to get things done.
- Ability to work in a dynamic and cross-functional environment, where conflicting objectives need to be prioritized and achieved.
- Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, and secondary research skills required.
- Ability and willingness to travel intermittently for work, conferences, or other related reasons.
Additional Information
In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $70,696.34 and $124,230.14. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
