Job Description Summary
This newly created role within the Corporate Controller’s Group is central in further developing the Company’s accounting policy framework. This position will be a dedicated resource responsible for providing technical accounting guidance related to proposed transactions and new authoritative accounting literature, and assessing the potential impact to the Company. The individual will also assist in monitoring accounting policy compliance throughout the Company and maintaining corporate accounting and financial reporting policies.
This position reports to the Assistant Vice President-Accounting Policy and will interact and work directly with the Senior Vice President-Reporting as well as the Chief Accounting Officer/ Controller.
What You’ll Do
- Perform research to interpret and provide subject matter expertise on technical accounting matters and accounting estimates to ensure conformity with Company policies and generally accepted accounting principles
- Communicate directly with Senior Management regarding significant accounting standard developments, conclusions reached and potential impact to the Company’s businesses
- Develop and prepare periodic analytical and monitoring assessments to ensure compliance with accounting policies and guidelines
- Support the Corporate Controller’s Group in establishing and maintaining Company accounting and financial reporting policies and procedures
- Perform technical accounting analyses and resolution of complex accounting transactions related to potential transactions such as acquisitions, investments, derivatives and hedging
Knowledge/Skills/Background/Experience
- 3-5 years related experience
- Bachelors’ or Masters’ degree in Accounting required
- Recent experience in public accounting or technical accounting research preferred
- Understanding of processes and accounting related to banking/financial services preferred
- Understanding of accounting and financial reporting of derivative instruments
- Evaluation and analysis of emerging accounting and reporting standards from the FASB, EITF, SEC and other regulators
- CPA preferred
