Job Description Summary
This is a role responsible for providing technical accounting guidance related to Transamerica's Investment Reporting & Disclosures. Will serve as a technical resource on Investment assets and derivatives under IFRS, Statutory, US GAAP, and Solvency II. This role offers a high level of responsibility and visibility while also offering the chance to influence and set direction.
Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Monitoring of developing accounting pronouncements and implementation of new accounting and disclosure guidance under IFRS, Statutory, US GAAP and Solvency II
- Accounting Research - reading guidance & applying it as part of creating or reviewing an accounting or reporting position for unique asset / derivative types or transactions
- Organization and maintenance of US Accounting Policy Manual for Investments
- Drafting and/or updating accounting & reporting policies and position papers for Investment assets and derivatives under all bases of accounting
- Work with other departments / divisions to ensure business issues are resolved for the success of the Company
- Error / Issue paper creation or review, including root cause analysis & remediation plan (including recommended control updates)
- Point of contact with external auditor, US Corporate Accounting policy, Group Accounting Policy, and internal controls
- Assist with quarterly or annual reporting
Specific topical examples include:
- Asset categorization and classification for reporting purposes
- Materiality assessments related to errors & issue papers
- Consolidation assessment (e.g., IFRS 10) of partially owned investments (joint ventures, unique structures)
- Achieving hedge accounting under IFRS, Statutory, and/or US GAAP on new or contemplated hedge programs
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and/or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 5 years experience, with degree.
- Advanced computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Solid knowledge of accounting/financial area preferred (for example, investments, insurance products, premium).
- Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing, ability to handle multiple projects, customer service approach, willingness to take on new projects, analytical.
- Work effectively individually and within a team; organizational and prioritization skills.
Working Conditions:
- Fast paced deadline-driven office environment, occasional travel.
- Commuting Remote employees will need to report to a Company office location at times, but will perform their work primarily remotely.
Compensation
The Salary for this position generally ranges between $75,000 - $90,000 annually. This range is an estimate, based on potential qualifications and operational needs. Salary may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by applicable law.
Additionally, this position is typically eligible for an Annual Bonus based on the Company Bonus Plan/Individual Performance and is at Company discretion.
