Job Description Summary
Responsible for applying financial analysis knowledge and judgment to financial activities related to investments for external reporting. Utilizes various reporting applications to perform accounting, financial reporting and analysis functions for external reporting – specifically IFRS9, USGAAP, and global investment reporting for our parent company, AEGON NV and other external reporting requirements for investments. Works closely with other reporting teams within Transamerica and Aegon NV to ensure regulatory compliance with applicable accounting standards.
Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Participates in quarterly accounting processes to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.
- Performs professional financial analysis work, which involves: extracting financial data from various accounting and information systems, compilation, consolidation and appropriate analysis of financial data.
- Analyzes financial data and defines relevant information to apply to financial reporting standards for both internal and external reporting
- Work with multiple areas of the business to ensure appropriate methodology is applied to applicable reporting standards
- Interprets financial transactions and events for users who must make economic or business decisions.
- Identifies, participates and contributes ideas for success in relation to assigned work, projects or other process enhancements.
- Understands the flow of information, financial systems, appropriate reporting tools and uses that knowledge to troubleshoot problems, provide recommendations for system enhancements and work closely with IT teams to implement reporting solutions
- Effectively applies fundamental concepts; works on assignments of moderate scope and complexity, with limited oversight; makes recommendations for changes to procedures, and performs varied work, requiring some originality or ingenuity.
- Possesses and applies broad knowledge of concepts and principles or exhibits technical expertise in a specific area; works with minimal instruction or guidance with appreciable latitude for un-reviewed action or decisions; performs moderately difficult assignments with diverse scope and complexity, requiring a great deal of originality, creativity and problem solving with initiative and independent judgment required.
- Participates on project teams or leads project teams.
- May participate in due diligence activities.
- Works effectively with other departments/divisions to ensure business issues are resolved for the success of the company.
- Offers leadership and direction to others. May supervise others.
- Responsible for adherence to the company's framework of internal controls.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and/or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 8 years experience, with degree.
- Advanced computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of investments preferred and prior reporting experience
- US GAAP investment reporting experience
- Solid knowledge of accounting/financial area preferred
- Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing, ability to handle multiple projects, willingness to take on new projects, customer service approach, highly analytical.
- Work effectively individually and within a team, organizational and prioritization skills, effective judgment.
Working Conditions:
- Fast paced deadline-driven office environment.
- Hybrid employees will need to work at a Company office location at times and a remote work location (typically their home) at times.
