Summary: Under limited supervision and with significant independent judgment, organizes and controls the day-to-day administrative and underwriting activities for an assigned portfolio and/or region for contract and commercial surety by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reviews agency submittals for completeness and accuracy, requesting additional information if necessary.
- Initiates the underwriting process to make thorough evaluations and assessments in accordance with the standards established for Frankenmuth Surety. Secures all relevant credit reports and completes appropriate reference checks. Completes all necessary financial and project data entry and prepares financial and project trend analysis.
- Prepares summary recommendations for review with supervisor in conformance with company guidelines and models.
- Facilitates review and approval/declination of bid requests on assigned accounts.
- Communicates with agents and internal staff to collect necessary information to perform risk assessment and update financial files over the course of a fiscal period.
- Builds and maintains productive and profitable relationships with agents. Solicits submissions through marketing efforts and educating agents on our requirements and appetite.
- Reviews relevant contract documents to identify potential exposures and risks to the surety. Works with the Director, Surety to craft appropriate bond form language and construct the appropriate indemnity agreement.
- Advances surety strategy and marketing at various industry functions and with our agency plant.
- May provide leadership to junior staff through guidance and training. May provide input to management regarding junior staff performance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:
Level 6: Master’s degree (M.A.) or equivalent; or six to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
A minimum requirement for this position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
