This position is not a Telework position and is required to report to the APD office located in Tallahassee, Florida.

The Work You Will Do
- Perform independent internal audits in accordance with the auditing standards as outlined in section 20.055, Florida Statutes. The types of audits are contract, compliance, performance, financial, and information technology. Additionally, perform management reviews. Develop assignment scopes, methodologies, and audit programs. Perform audit fieldwork as described in the audit program. This will normally require the application of a wide range of audit techniques such as sampling, testing, reconciling, interviewing, observing, and confirming, among others. Prepare audit documentation to document work performed. Analyze supporting audit documentation, interview responsible management, drawing logical conclusions, and developing appropriate findings and recommendations. Prepare thorough, complete and accurate documentation of work performed, oral and written briefings, and draft and final reports.
- Perform complex Information Technology (IT) system-related internal audits of various APD departments, programs, and IT systems. This activity involves access to confidential information while carrying out job duties and all internal audits should be conducted in accordance with appropriate standards and policies, where applicable. Participate in enterprise training and meetings related to cyber audits.
- Conduct follow-up reports to identify the progress made in implementing corrective actions in response to reported audit findings and recommendations. These reports will be compiled and submitted for supervisory review and communication to the Agency's Director, Chief Inspector General, and Auditor General.
- Assist in the development of the Office of Inspector General’s risk assessment, analyze data, and participate in the development of the annual and long-term work plan. Assist with preparing the annual report.
- Assist the Director of Audit as liaison with external auditors, provide advice to Agency personnel on the appropriate response to external audit findings, coordinate entrance and exit conferences and audit responses, and track all corrective actions related to external and internal audit findings.
- Provide backup assistance to the Investigations Section in conducting APD employee reference checks on OIG files and answering the OIG complaint hotline. Additionally, may assist the Investigations Section or the Inspector General in the performance of investigations or special assignments.
- Maintain and improve professional knowledge and skills through participation in staff meetings, staff development activities, continuing education training opportunities, professional networking, and review of office literature, reference materials and current periodicals. Specifically, obtaining at least forty hours of continuing professional education every two years directly enhances the incumbent's professional proficiency.
- Perform other related duties as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must have a valid Driver’s License or other efficient means of transportation.
- Must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and 2 years of related full-time audit experience with local, state, or federal units of government. Professional experience may be substituted for a degree on a year-to-year basis, thus requiring 6 years of professional audit experience.
- Applicants must have good writing skills, verbal communication, listening skills, logical and critical thinking, and analytical skills.
- Experience with the following applications is required: Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, and Adobe.
- Preference will be given to applicants who have specialty skills in data analysis and data analytics software, performance review, process analysis and evaluation, possess professional accounting/audit related licenses or certifications, and can provide examples of published audit reports with findings and recommendations.

Knowledge of:
- The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants Generally Accepted Auditing Standards, United States Government Accountability Office’s Government Auditing Standards, Institute of Internal Auditors' Professional Practices Framework, The Association of Inspectors' General Principles and Standards for Offices of Inspector General, and the Information Systems Audit and Control Association’s Standards, Guidelines and Procedures.
- Information technology and operational auditing best practices, skills, and techniques.
