DNV’s Asset Operations Team is seeking a Senior Wind Turbine Field Inspections Consultant to lead the company’s inspection campaigns, including selection and oversight of subcontractors, project management duties, on-site inspections of wind turbines and wind turbine blades, and production of highly-detailed, complex written reports for customers. The primary role is to ensure that campaigns are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
The ideal candidate will possess a solid field presence with strong stakeholder engagement qualities, experience in wind turbine and/or wind turbine blade inspections, and will also see this role as an opportunity to shape and grow an industry-critical service. They will operate with a high degree of autonomy, apply independent decision-making and judgment, and hold themselves to a high standard of integrity.
This position is flexible and may be based in any of our Renewables Advisory DNV North American offices. Please visit our NA locations page for the list of offices. DNV utilizes a dynamic hybrid schedule where employees will typically spend three (3) days per week working from either a DNV office or client location/site.

What You'll do
In the field:
- Lead domestic and international wind turbine and wind turbine blade inspection campaigns.
- Establish and nurture relationships with subcontractors to expand inspection capabilities, providing them with necessary training on DNV’s processes.
- Oversee inspection teams (internal and subcontracted) and vet subcontractors to ensure competence in required tasks.
- Coordinate with customers, manufacturers, and other site stakeholders to inform daily operational activities.
- Conduct physical inspections and assessments of wind turbines, components, and support structures during various project phases (manufacturing, construction, operation) to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
- Perform in-depth inspections of wind turbine blades (interior and exterior) both on the ground and installed uptower.
- Analyze and interpret large datasets from inspections and compile concise, actionable reports for customers.
In the office:
- Prepare and review detailed inspection reports, review subcontractor submissions, and coordinate with project managers to ensure reports are delivered on time and to specification.
- Communicate technical details with customers through written reports and verbal updates.
- Work closely with other engineering and operations teams to ensure that inspection data is integrated into broader project workflows. This includes collaborating on root cause analyses and proposing potential solutions based on inspection results.
- Proactively seek and secure inspection projects, negotiate contracts, and manage project delivery.
- Support digitalization initiatives.
- Work independently and collaboratively as a member of the team, providing and receiving feedback.
- Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with colleagues, customers, and partners.

About you
What is Required
- Technical degree or certification in a field related to wind turbine operations and/or maintenance.
- In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in wind turbine or wind turbine blade inspection (coursework or internships may be considered).
- Willingness to travel up to 50%, domestically and internationally.
- Must be willing to train for and perform confined space entries.
- Familiarity with wind turbine inspections and operational issues.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and project management skills.
- Experience in client-facing roles.
- High level of integrity and respect for confidentiality.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to present technical information clearly and concisely in formal reports.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
What is Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or a related field.
- Certification in GWO Basic Safety Training and/or Advanced Rescue Training.
- Knowledge of various wind turbine manufacturers and models.
- Experience with managing subcontractors.
- Experience performing borescope inspections on wind turbines.
- Knowledge of rotating equipment damage modes and how to identify them via borescope imagery.
- Certifications or experience with NDT techniques (such as ultrasonic testing, magnetic particle testing, or thermography).
- Certifications or experience with electrical testing of wind turbines (NFPA 70E preferred).
- Familiarity with reviewing drone-based data for wind turbine inspections.
- Knowledge of composites, blade manufacturing, blade repair.
- Experience with overseeing and/or performing wind turbine repair campaigns.
- Understanding and working knowledge of international standards for wind turbines, such as IEC 61400.
