Accounting & Tax Manager
Located in Warrenville, IL, we are a distinguished accounting firm dedicated to empowering small businesses by providing comprehensive financial management and tax services. We are seeking an experienced and proactive Accounting & Tax Manager who will play a crucial role in analyzing, preparing, and reviewing tax filings while also managing and fostering relationships with a portfolio of small business clients. Compensation: Up to $110,000 per year
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervision and management of Staff Accountants to ensure effective collaboration and accuracy on shared account issues.
- Leadership within weekly staff meetings alongside Staff Accountants and strategic planning meetings with the firm’s president.
- Overseeing efficient allocation of Staff Accountant time using Task Budget vs. Actual reports.
- Ensuring the timely completion of projects using Incomplete Project reports and conducting collection calls and client transitions to the firm’s ACH system for billing.
- Meticulous review of monthly financial statements and initiating meaningful monthly contact with clients.
- Representation of clients in both sales and income tax audits, and the preparation of tax plans and business tax returns for assigned clients.
- Lead new client installation meetings and oversee follow-up tasks based on the Post Installation Checklist.
- Direct management of client-initiated questions and issues, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
- Assignment and oversight of project backwork and setup activities.
- Thorough review of client fees and communication of any necessary adjustments to foster transparency and trust.
- Encouraging professional growth and building client relationships through enthusiastic interaction and proactive service.
- Collaboration with and support for colleagues to promote a cohesive and effective work environment.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
- Must have active CPA or EA certification.
- A minimum of 5 years in a supervisory or managerial accounting role.
- A minimum of 2 years experience in tax return preparation for forms 1040, 1065, and 1120.
- Minimum 3 years experience in a CPA firm, specifically working with small business clients.
- Proven track record of managing multiple accounting projects and staff oversight.
