Position: Senior Mortgage Underwriter (not remote)

Responsibilities and Expectations
- Underwrite Mortgage Loans
- Manage process flow to ensure all underwriting responsibilities are performed in the absence of other employees and/or manager
- Underwrite mortgage loans according to agonies, secondary market investor guidelines and/or by Equity Bank underwriting guidelines ultimately balancing bank safety and soundness against loan production needs of the loan originators
- Well versed with guidelines for VA, FHA, RD and Conventional loans
- Reviews and calculates qualifying income for borrowers, including complex self-employed
- Reviews credit reports to determine if borrowers meet agency, investor and Equity Bank credit worthiness requirements
- Reviews appraisals to determine if the collateral meets secondary market and Equity Bank requirements and supports the value given by the appraiser
- Ensure loans are underwritten within established timeframes
- Communicate results back to loan processors and/or loan originators
- Clear to close loans for final documents
- Underwrite additional mortgage in-house loan products
- Underwrites HELOC, home equity installment loans, Construction, Bridge & Land loans and specialty programs according to Equity Bank’s underwriting guidelines ultimately balancing bank safety and soundness against loan production needs of the loan originators
- Investor relations
- Assist EVP/CCO in researching repurchase requests
- Employee is responsible for understanding and following the applicable laws and regulations for their job responsibilities including but not limited to Equity Bank Business Ethic and Conduct Policy, Bank Secrecy Act, Information Security, and Suspicious Activity reporting requirements
- Perform other duties as assigned or required
- Must work on-site at Wichita, KS headquarters location (not remote/hybrid role)
Required Skills & Education
- High School diploma or equivalent
- FHA DE & VA SSR
- 10+ years mortgage experience
- TRID experience preferred
- Experience with Ellie Mae Encompass LOS preferred
- Extensive knowledge of mortgage lending practices and regulations preferred
- Ability to process high volume, time-sensitive transactions preferred
- Detail oriented and well organized
- Able to perform a variety of mortgage-related functions, while maintaining composure
- Excellent interpersonal skills and professional manner

Physical Requirements
This position requires standing, walking, bending, and squatting on a regular basis. May require the ability to stoop, kneel, crouch or reach with hands and arms. Requires the ability to carry, lift, move or push up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis. Must be able to talk and listen to others.

This position regularly works in an office setting. Most of the job duties require the employee to be working with computers and electronic media on a regular basis.
