Our Team
The Credits and Incentives capability supports each of the Koch subsidiaries on operational investments and works closely with Finance Leaders, Government Relations, and State & Local Governments. Our C&I team is dedicated to fostering strong relationships with our stakeholders by providing transparent, timely, and comprehensive guidance on various investments with a primary focus on "Identification, Pursuit, and Maintenance" of State and Local Tax Incentives.
What You Will Do
- Oversee the C&I capability for all Koch companies and communicate with key stakeholders.
- Identify Federal and Local C&I opportunities and lead the analysis and documentation of such opportunities (including qualification and quantification).
- Manage C&I opportunities such as Research and Development tax credit/deduction analyses, New Markets Tax Credit, Sustainability and Renewable Energy tax credits, Pollution Control Exemptions, etc.
- Develop relationships with Business Development, Accounting, Treasury, and Legal business group leaders across Koch companies to understand and optimize C&I.
- Work with outside tax advisors including major law firms and accounting firms to analyze and document C&I as appropriate.
- Monitor legislative updates for new C&I opportunities and for impacts to our existing C&I.
- Maintain a library of existing C&I programs (and new opportunities) and document ongoing C&I compliance requirements.
- Develop a broad base of knowledge of the various types of C&I and their applicability across Koch companies.
- Coordinate with Tax, Accounting, HR, and other teams to ensure that C&I benefits are correctly reported and realized.
- Assist in the resolution of questions from tax authorities (e.g., IRS, State Revenue Agencies, and Business Development Boards) relating to C&I.
- Coach and develop team members from across the SALT organization.
- Manage multiple projects and communicate results to the team and leadership.
- Drive innovation and transformation from within the tax organization.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Experience leading and assisting with large, multiple time-sensitive projects.
- Experience at law firm, CPA firm, or large multi-national corporation.
- Experience in dealing with government agencies to resolve outstanding questions related to C&I.
- Demonstrated ability to coach, develop, and drive accountability for a team of professionals at varying career levels.
- Proven knowledge of complex tax incentives, NMTCs, Renewable Energy tax credits, Employee Retention tax credits, or other statutory or negotiated incentives.
- Technical writing and research experience in a tax context.
What Will Put You Ahead
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Taxation and/or a JD.
- Master's degree in Taxation and/or LL.M. in Taxation.
- Knowledge of investment and production tax credits associated with energy efficiency or alternative production.
- Experience with Alteryx and/or Robotic Process Automation software.
- Experience interpreting new or altered tax legislation passed by Congress or State/Local Authorities.
