Overview
The Director of Accounting will be responsible for leading monthly and quarterly financial reporting and closing activities, as well as other special projects and strategic decision-making efforts. The Director of Accounting will work across the organization and within the accounting and finance functional areas to support a growing organization. This position will partner with corporate finance, field operations teams, field accounting teams, and non-finance key stakeholders to own and support global accounting efforts.

- You have experience with cleansing, analysis, and interpretation of large datasets.

What You'll Do
- Ownership of assigned accounting and reporting functions, ensuring accuracy and integrity of financial reporting.
- Provide technical leadership on complex technical accounting issues, including but not limited to ASC 606.
- Oversee the implementation and optimization of accounting systems such as EPIC, AMS 360, Workday, or others to streamline ASC 606 revenue recognition and reporting.
- Identify inefficiencies and implementing process improvements to enhance accounting operations.
- Partner with the Company’s M&A/Due Diligence teams for initial assessment and evaluation of target’s compliance with US GAAP, specifically ASC 606, and design and implement the strategy for US GAAP compliance of the target, if needed.
- Partner with the Company’s Integrations team to ensure the appropriate accounting integration of newly acquired entities to maintain US GAAP compliance.
- Partner with the Company’s Field Operations team over the governance and maintenance of data inputs necessary to develop complex accounting estimates.
- Collaborate with other business functions for other data points necessary for management’s accounting estimates.
- Analyze contracts for accounting implications and formally document technical accounting positions.
- Lead the ASC 606 revenue accounting consolidation effort in partnership with field operations during the quarterly close.
- Lead, coach, mentor, and develop assigned team members of the accounting team.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors on their quarterly review and annual audits.
- Responsible for designing, implementing, and executing effective internal controls.
- Responsible for implementing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures to support the organization’s financial objectives.
- Prepare and own assigned footnotes, MD&A disclosures, and supporting analysis.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Travel is expected to be negligible in this role, however, could be more depending on the needs of the Company.
- Role is based in the Company’s headquarters office in Orlando, Florida.

What You'll Need
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in Finance or Accounting is required. Master's degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in a related role.
- Prior experience leading teams and providing performance feedback.
- CPA licensure required.
- Basic to intermediate understanding of the insurance industry and its financial practices.
- Former “big 4” audit experience, SOX proficiency, IPO experience highly preferred.
- Previous experience working in a public company preferred.
