The role you’ll contribute:
The Accounting Manager supervises a team of Accounting professionals responsible for recording of authorized financial transactions into the company's general ledger and subsidiary ledgers. This Manager actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
The value that you bring to the team:
- Provides overall leadership and support to Senior Accountants and Accountants to ensure they perform all accounting activities within the department.
- Monitors and reviews the reconciliation of the transactions taking place between the general ledger and subsidiary ledgers, including accounts payable, inventory, payroll, and revenue and guides the team in making appropriate adjustments within the system.
- Ensures compliance with company accounting policies and accounting standards; proposes new or changes to existing policies to enforce standardization and efficiency across the organization.
- Manages period end close activities for corporate business units and allocation to all business units (could reach over 100 business units).
- Troubleshoots escalated issues, makes decisions, communicates, and escalates as appropriate.
- Assists with training development and delivery for end users on all accounting activities.
- Coordinates and liaises closely with other teams and ERP leadership, facility finance and materials management leadership and Corporate Finance.
- Supports internal and external audit activities.
- Responsible for the establishment and effectiveness of internal controls.
- Monitors accounting service level agreement performance; researches noncompliance instances and remedies processes and procedures to correct instances of noncompliance.
- Assists Accounting Director with annual budgeting process.
- Leads and supports continuous improvement processes within accounting including analyzing metrics and identifying needed system modifications and process changes by working with other teams, ERP, facility and Corporate Finance teams.
- Responsible for planning proper assignments of personnel and appropriate allocation of resources within the accounting department.
- Accomplishes Accounting objectives by assisting with recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning and allocating resources, coaching, counseling, and disciplining Senior Accountants and Accountants.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by tracking emerging trends in accounting management, attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices, and participating in professional societies.
- Achieves superior customer satisfaction working directly with internal and external customers, including company-wide C-suite executives as appropriate.
- Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure the smooth operation of the department.
- Available outside of normal business hours for occasional support needs.
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent degree from a four-year accredited university or college.
- 5 years of progressive work experience, including at least 3 years of Healthcare Industry Experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting.
- Experience in a healthcare organization.
- Proficiency in PeopleSoft.
