The Opportunity:
The Risk and Safety Specialist II will play a crucial role in administering safety assessments, investigating incidents, managing technology systems, and promoting a culture of risk awareness. This role is vital in maintaining a safe and secure campus environment.
Classification Title: Risk Management Specialist II
Responsibilities:
- Administer university's hazardous event safety assessment process (i.e. SAFE Form) including evaluation of events for appropriate review, administration of applicable technology, development of recommendations regarding event safety, and performance of site visits and periodic audits.
- Conduct non-employee incident investigations including but not limited to interviewing relevant parties, inspecting incident sites, coordinating with other investigative units as needed, determining root cause, documenting findings, reviewing incident data for potential trends, and identifying corrective action plans, as needed.
- Administer the incident reporting technology system including maintenance of accurate, detailed records to support claims management process.
- Support compliance with vehicle use and safety policies and guidelines.
- Assist Workplace Safety area as needed.
- Support facilitation of a university risk and safety committee ensuring regular meeting frequency, communication to appropriate parties of safety concerns raised, and remediation of items identified.
- Encourage a culture of risk and safety, identify opportunities to minimize the frequency and severity of incidents, and develop initiatives and solutions to enhance risk and safety practices.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with incident and hazard investigation and analysis.
- Proficiency with safety management software, such as Origami Risk or similar systems.
- Strong understanding of general workplace safety principles and practices.
