JOB
Oversee, coordinate and perform auditing activities within the Internal Audit Department; audit, evaluate, analyze and report on a variety of City operations, the achievement of goals, financial accuracy and record keeping and compliance with applicable laws, policies and regulations; implement program goals and objectives; perform a variety of professional and technical tasks in support of assigned area of responsibility. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
- Perform multiple audits.
- Recommend and implement goals and objectives for providing auditing services.
- Interpret and explain City policies and procedures.
- Allocate limited resources in a cost effective manner.
- Evaluate, analyze and report on a variety of City operations.
- Conduct extensive research of various municipal regulations and policies.
- Prepare clear and concise reports.
- Analyze problems, identify alternative solutions and project consequences of proposed actions.
- Provide technical assistance to other City departments.
- Interpret and apply Federal, State and local policies, laws and regulations.
- Communicate clearly and concisely.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
- Perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSEducation and experience directly related to the minimum requirements below may be interchangeable on a year for year basis. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business, public administration, finance, statistics or accounting; and four (4) years of auditing or public accounting experience in auditing. Possession of a valid Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) certificate is preferred.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTSPossession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire. Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within 6 months from date of hire.
