As part of the finance team, the chapter finance coordinator (CFA) oversees finances for Kappa Delta chapters, including developing communications and training materials, responding to inquiries, and coordinating various chapter finance-related activities and projects. In this role, the CFA will work specifically with the vice president-finance and chapter advisory board-finance positions of various chapters. The CFA will also work with Kappa Delta’s preferred chapter accounting vendors and assist chapters with questions relating to the accounting software. The CFA will also assist the finance department in general accounting duties and participate in the month-end close process. The CFA will report to the Accounting Manager and work closely with the director of finance, executive director, national vice president-finance, national leadership team volunteers and other members of the finance department.
The CFA is a position based at Kappa Delta Sorority National Headquarters in Memphis, Tennessee. The position requires sound decision making and judgment according to policies, procedures and financial best practices. The position requires team collaboration within the finance department and project management. The CFA should demonstrate the ability to take initiative as well as direction on projects assigned and provide excellent customer service. Must be proficient in MS Office especially Excel, Word, Outlook and quickly learn database, billing and time management software programs. The CFA must have a flexible schedule as this position requires occasional extended hours outside of regular business hours (2-4 hours per month).
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop finance-related communications and training materials for chapter officers, volunteers, and leadership development consultants
- Develop a thorough understanding of Kappa Delta policies and procedures to effectively advise chapter officers and volunteers
- Respond to inquiries from chapter officers and volunteers concerning chapter finances
- Work with national Kappa Delta’s preferred chapter accounting vendors on a regular basis and assist chapters with questions or projects relating to the accounting software
- Coordinate chapter support with national leadership team members and the national vice president-finance
- Create and maintain positive and productive relationships with chapter officers and volunteers
- Provide reports on chapters to the national leadership team and national council as needed and in accordance with set deadlines
- Assist the finance department in general accounting duties such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash receipts and billing
- Assist the finance department in the accounting month-end close process
- Complete various finance department projects on an as-needed basis
- Problem solve on a multitude of daily questions and situations
- Participate in training presentations for new employees and volunteers as needed
National Conferences:
- Assist with planning and implementation of programming as directed
- Coordinate and present finance-related material as needed
- Serve as on-site staff event support
- Required travel to Convention (June 2025 and odd years thereafter)
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required; business, finance, accounting, or a related field is preferred
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Superior time management skills
- Excellent interpersonal/relationship-building skills
- Excellent critical thinking and decision-making abilities
- Strong presentation, public speaking and training skills
- Excellent computer skills including experience with Microsoft products
- Membership in Kappa Delta or experience with chapter accounting software is a plus
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
- Must be able to operate a computer and navigate applications with a smart phone, computer, and or tablet.
- Position may require prolonged periods of sitting.
- Must be able to use hand and arms for repetitive movement such as movement of wrists, hands, and fingers while typing.
- Must be able to converse with colleagues via phone and computer programs.
- If working remotely must have a quiet full-time office space and sufficient internet connection.
