The University of Nevada, Reno, Foundation is recruiting for a Controller. This position is responsible for managing the cash and investments of the University of Nevada, Reno Foundation in excess of $300 million. The Controller is responsible for the financial, endowment and investment reporting for the University of Nevada, Reno Foundation and all related 501(c)(3)’s. It is the responsibility of this position to ensure the fulfillment of the fiduciary responsibility of the Foundation to the donors, Board of Trustees, University of Nevada, Reno and the Nevada System of Higher Education.
This position is responsible for compliance with all federal, state, foundation, university, Nevada System of Higher Education requirements, standard practices and policies as well as ensuring financial reports accurately reflect the activity of 3,800 fund accounts within the organization, including over 1,100 endowment funds. This position supervises both professional and classified accounting/finance staff.
This position researches and interprets complex accounting issues for compliance and disclosure requirements in accordance with GASB, GAAP, IFRS, the University Administrative Manual, and the NSHE Board of Regents Handbook, as it applies to umbrella organizations, the Foundation’s policies, the Internal Revenue Service laws and regulations, and all US, individual state, and international legal, banking, investment and tax laws and regulations.
This position is responsible for researching and interpreting domestic and international accounting, banking, investment and legal matters to ensure compliance and proper disclosure in financial statements.
