Position SummaryThe Accounting Manager is responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting. The role will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. The Accounting Manager is also responsible for month-end general ledger activities, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation, monthly reconciliations, and support for budget and forecast activities. The Accounting Manager will report directly to the Director of Finance.
Responsibilities & Duties- Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
- Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close.
- Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information.
- Assist the Corporate Controller in the daily banking requirements.
- Collaborate with other department managers to support overall department goals and objectives.
- Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Advise CFO and Corporate Controller regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions.
- Respond to inquiries from the Executive Team and other managers regarding financial results, special reporting requests, and other ad hoc reporting needs.
- Work with the CFO and Corporate Controller to ensure a clean and timely year-end audit.
- Assist in the development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.
- Provide training to new and existing staff as needed.
- Handle payroll-related transactions.
- Support the Corporate Controller and CFO with special projects and workflow process improvements.
Minimum Requirements- Education: BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in Accounting, CPA required.
- Technical Skills and Prior Experience: Five to seven years of prior supervisory experience in the financial reporting/general ledger area. Experience working in a fast-paced environment preferred.
Must be PC proficient and able to thrive in a fast-paced setting. Experience with QuickBooks is a must, and experience in transitioning off QuickBooks is even better! Must have strong experience with Microsoft Excel, Access, and Word, and must be able to work with pivot tables, VLookups, and complex models. SQL experience is a plus.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, and meet deadlines required.
