Position Overview:
The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with accounting standards within a healthcare, pharmaceutical, hospital, or doctors' group setting. This role involves managing day-to-day accounting tasks, including general ledger maintenance, accounts payable/receivable, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have experience in the healthcare or pharmaceutical industry and a strong understanding of the unique financial processes and regulations in these sectors. This position has hybrid flexibility after six months.
Responsibilities:
- General Ledger Management: Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data. Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepayments, and allocations.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process vendor invoices, ensuring timely and accurate payment of expenses. Manage billing and collections, including patient billing (if applicable), insurance claims, and reimbursements. Monitor accounts receivable aging and follow up on overdue payments.
- Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Support the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses.
- Compliance & Audit Support: Ensure compliance with industry-specific regulations, including HIPAA, Medicare/Medicaid, and other relevant healthcare financial standards. Assist with internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and supporting the audit process.
- Expense Management: Monitor and track departmental expenses, ensuring adherence to budget guidelines. Review and process employee expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policies.
- Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with other departments, including billing, payroll, and procurement, to ensure accurate financial data and reporting. Provide financial insights and support to management for decision-making purposes.
Salary: $50,000 - $60,000 a year
