Primary Purpose
Processes time and attendance and payroll data for the entire staff population at Parkland Health. Other duties include serving as a resource on complex payroll issues to assure the timely and accurate reporting of employee payroll while adhering to FLSA & DOL regulations.
Minimum Specifications
Education
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
Experience
- Must have five (5) years of Payroll Processing or related experience.
Skills or Special Abilities
- Must be able to demonstrate a good working knowledge of payroll processes at PHHS within three months of employment.
- Must be able to demonstrate a good working knowledge of payroll laws and regulations.
- Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of personal computers and be able to use required software.
- Must be able to compute basic math quickly and accurately.
- Must possess good organizational skills.
- Must be able to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication.
- Collaborative Team player and Self-Motivated independent contributor.
- Proficient in VLOOKUP and Pivot tables.
- Proven abilities of attention to detail, multi-tasking, critical thinking and time management skills.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft office.
Responsibilities
- Maintains time and attendance and payroll systems data as assigned in a timely manner to ensure proper calculation of employee payroll.
- Communicates with internal and external customers, effectively, accurately, and timely via verbal and written resources.
- Performs Audits of payroll records and reports to ensure proper alignment.
- Processes payroll deductions accurately and in a timely manner.
- Serves as a resource for departmental personnel regarding complex time and attendance and payroll issues to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Serves as a resource for payroll staff regarding complex time, attendance, and payroll issues. Meets with department leaders to facilitate refresher courses and make recommendations to ensure that proper pay practices are used.
- Processes off-cycle payroll accurately and in a timely manner, assuring compliance with established policies and procedures, for accurate reporting of employee paychecks.
- Processes eligible benefits for terminated employees and checks for outstanding balances to be captured on final check.
- Processes mileage and expense reimbursements in a timely manner.
- Research and documents information for reports - exempt hours over 80 and exempt hours under 80 in a timely manner.
- Serves as a backup resource to other positions within Payroll Processing to assure timely processing of payroll records.
- Assists with special projects as assigned, such as the implementation of new systems or processes, to support the overall goals and mission of PHHS.
- Maintains strict confidentiality of data.
Job Accountabilities
- Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer satisfaction. Makes recommendations to supervisor, implements, and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals of the department and Parkland.
- Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements, and trends in the field by attending seminars/workshops, reading professional journals, actively participating in professional organizations, and/or maintaining certification or licensure. Integrates knowledge gained into current work practices.
- Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines that impact the area. Develops effective internal controls designed to promote adherence with applicable laws, accreditation agency requirements, and federal, state, and private health plans. Seeks advice and guidance as needed to ensure proper understanding.
