A vacancy exists in the Office of Budget and Finance, Accounting Division.
A list of eligible applicants will be established based on the examination as outlined below.
Current and future vacancies occurring in any Office or Department of Baltimore County General Government may be filled from the list of eligible applicants.

Under general supervision, supervises professional accounting staff in the Office of Budget and Finance.
- Plans, assigns, and reviews the work of professional accounting and support staff.
- Trains new personnel.
- Reviews and analyzes accounting systems and reporting methods.
- Assists in the development of revised systems and methods.
- Coordinates County-wide year-end operations including closing procedures.
- Prepares periodic and annual financial and detailed cost statements.
- Prepares estimates and statements of account for County operations and income generating programs.
- Prepares complex accounting and statistical reports for Federal, State, and other government agencies.
- Coordinates or supervises a specialized accounting function.
- Serves as liaison between agency and County, State, and Federal accounting and auditing officials.
Examples of Other Duties
- May participate in budget preparation.
- Performs other related duties as required.

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, economics, or a closely related field.

Four years' professional experience in accounting or auditing and possession of a license as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
(Education in accounting beyond a bachelor's degree may be substituted on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of two years for the required experience.)
Licenses and Certificates
Possession of a license as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) issued by the Maryland State Board of Accountancy is required within six months of appointment.

Proof of Degree Equivalency

EXAMINATION PROCEDURE
Applicants will be qualified based on an evaluation of their training and experience, as stated on their application, which includes answers to the supplemental questions. Applicants must state the dates and duties of past and present experience clearly and completely for evaluation purposes.
Employees hired after July 1, 2022 are required to participate in the Baltimore County Employees' Retirement System, with very limited exceptions.
Physical and Environmental Conditions
The work of this classification is essentially sedentary but may include the operation of office equipment and occasional walking, standing, or other limited physical activities.

Applicants selected for employment with Baltimore County must successfully complete an employment investigation, including, but not limited to criminal background, education, and fingerprinting checks.
