We are currently seeking a QC Analyst to join our team of talented employees!
The Quality Analyst reports to the Quality Manager. The successful candidate is knowledgeable in QA/QC practices, will demonstrate initiative and will be quality-minded with strong customer focus.
Accountability Objective: The incumbent will be responsible for inspection, testing and calibration in the quality control/quality assurance department.
Position Qualifications: The incumbent should have a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or biology, and a minimum of 2 to 3 years of lab experience in a chemical plant environment.
Proven skills in all phases of directing a laboratory, with demonstrated hands-on analytical testing experience with SPC, SQC, basic statistical methods and laboratory measurement equipment.
Must have the ability to sit, walk and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone during shifts up to 12 hours in length. Working hours consist of 12 hour shifts; 7am – 7pm first two days; 7pm – 7am next two days; off four days.
Nature and Scope: The principle activities are directed at providing services to the plant and to the R&D organization in order to support business excellence and become a key focal point in QA/QC processes and working with plant personnel to ensure the business quality targets are met.
Requirements include comprehensive knowledge of analytical chemistry including methods development, operational and maintenance knowledge of analytical testing equipment such as HPLC, GC, GC-MS, LC-MS, and IR Spectrophotometry.
Knowledge of plant environmental, safety, and process safety requirements, the ability to perform audits and maintain records, and the routine use of plant communication tools.
Participation in the plant optimization and troubleshooting processes – providing pertinent data to the plant operations leadership group to facilitate troubleshooting and continuous improvement initiatives.
Assistance, support, and direct responsibility for certain plant compliance management requirements.
Primary resource for methods development support for the R&D new products development program, as well as for coordinating analytical support for the R&D synthesis chemists in balance with providing support for the plant needs.
Accountabilities:
Inspection, Testing, Calibration - All activities related to the testing of raw materials, work in process, environmental samples, and final products (including customer complaints testing and non-production related samples) in accordance with ISO specifications (following standard practices and procedures).
Perform analytical testing on raw materials, in-process, environmental, and finished products; research and development experimental products, customer complaint, and non-production related samples.
Calibrate test equipment per manufacturing recommendations, ASTMs and test methods. Example tests include pH, GC, GC-MS, HPLC, etc.
Verify and calibrate all test equipment per manufacturing recommendations or established Pennakem test methods.
Minor maintenance, troubleshooting, and improvement of instruments, test methods and laboratory practices - All activities related to continuous improvement of laboratory operations.
Assist in the maintenance of equipment and verify to achieve optimal performance; assist in troubleshooting testing instruments and methods.
Participate in continuous improvement activities that result in continuous improvement of accuracy, repeatability, gage R&R, productivity, reliability and efficiency of instruments, test methods and laboratory practices, as well as ISO 9001 compliance.
Data Entry and Reporting - All activities related to data recording and preparation of routine reports related to inspection and test results are performed in a timely and accurate manner.
Enter all product data as well as control standard data into QC Database.
Identify trends using basic SPC and control charting techniques resulting from testing.
Adhere to all SH&E guidelines and policies within Pennakem and maintaining personal safety within the workplace.
