Position Summary
The Senior Accountant is a highly skilled financial professional responsible for complex accounting functions, advanced financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This role involves detailed analysis, financial planning, and the supervision of critical accounting processes. The Senior Accountant supports the accounting team and collaborates with senior management to enhance financial performance and reporting accuracy.
Responsibilities
- Assists with and review detailed financial statements, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports. Ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP and other accounting standards
- Lead complex balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis. Oversee reconciliation processes for key accounts, including fixed assets, deferred revenue, and prepaid expenses
- Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements and reports to ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies.
- Coordinate and manage complex accounting projects and process improvements, including system implementations and internal control enhancements
- Assist with compliance review and internal control standards
- Responsible for monthly balance sheet reconciliation and variance analysis
- Reviews fixed asset purchases and related sales and use tax entries
- Assist with consolidation and elimination entries
- Research tax issues and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
- Leads and is a point-of-contact for financial and tax audits
- Execute and review advanced journal entries related to fixed assets, leases, and other complex accounting transactions
- Lead or participate in special accounting projects and initiatives as assigned by management. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals
- Identify opportunities for process improvements in accounting procedures and systems. Implement best practices to enhance accuracy and efficiency
- Makes recommendations based on analysis and status of reserves, assets, and expenditures
- Other duties as assigned
Education & Skill Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or finance required
- 4-6 years of progressive experience in accounting
- CPA preferred
- Advanced proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Netsuite ERP) and tax systems (e.g., Avalara).
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
- Experience working with Sales Tax on a national level
- Experience managing complex projects and implementing process improvements.
- Strong communication skills
- Highly detail-oriented and organized
- Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively
