Description
Responsible position which involves processing all invoices for timely payment. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Accounting Supervisor. Performance is evaluated through observation, results obtained, oral/written reports, and appropriate employee performance appraisals.
Examples of Duties
- Process all invoices for payment
- Edit and update payment groups to ensure proper account coding and payment amounts
- Maintain efficient filing system of all processed invoices and check copies
- Ensure that supporting documentation exists and is attached to all disbursements
- Ensure payments are made in a timely manner
- Update all edit batches created by the purchasing and property sections

Typical Qualifications
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma / GED Required, Associate's Degree Preferred (Preferred Major(s): Accounting, Business, Finance, or other related field)
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
- One (1) year of accounts payable, bookkeeping, or basic accounting experience
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office with a focus on Excel
- Any combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and experience
CERTIFICATION AND LICENSING:
- None
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Sit/stand for extended periods of time
- See and hear at normal range
- Speak, read, write, and understand English fluently

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures of accounting or accounts payable
- Skilled in the use of small office equipment, including copy machines, multi-line telephone systems, adding machine, and scanners
- Skilled in using computers for data entry
- Skilled in Microsoft Office suite of applications (Word, Excel, etc.)
- Ability to accept supervision
- Ability to plan, schedule, and coordinate a variety of projects and programs
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to prioritize projects and maintain organized files and orderly work area
- Ability to manage time effectively, work independently, and make sound decisions based on available information
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other county employees, the administration, co-workers, vendors, and the general public
