Description
Objective
This position is responsible for recording accounting transactions, performing account reconciliations, and working closely with other team members to help develop and maintain accounting processes. This position works closely with the Controller, Assistant Controller, and other accounting team members to ensure timely and accurate accounting and financial reporting.
Essential Responsibilities
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing responsibilities include account reconciliation and journal entries
- Assist in the preparation of year-end financial statements, footnotes, and supporting schedules
- Identify and record accrued and prepaid expenses and other transactions, and build and maintain supporting schedules for accounts
- Reconcile bank, cash, and credit card transactions throughout the month and at month-end
- Act as a resource for the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable teams as it relates to accounting treatment and transactions
- Maintain and review accounting records for outside accounting systems related to non-manufacturing revenue streams
- Identify opportunities for efficiency and participate in process improvement and internal control projects
- Support the fulfillment of audit requests from external audit firms as needed
- Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the general ledger, cost center, and department structure especially as it relates to financial areas of responsibility

Requirements
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- 2+ years accounting experience, audit and/or manufacturing industry experience a plus
- Prior experience in public accounting a plus
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel, required
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organization, deductive reasoning, and attention to detail
- Continuous-improvement mindset
- Ability to problem solve and work independently
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting and perform tasks efficiently and accurately
- Knowledge of SAP Business One/Orchestrated Beer a plus
