Position Overview
Our client is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join their dynamic accounting team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing cost accounting functions, providing critical financial insights, and contributing to pricing strategies and profitability assessments. This role is integral to ensuring accurate costing and efficient operations in their fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and improve cost accounting systems and standard cost system to ensure accuracy.
- Generate labor cost reports by collecting and analyzing data.
- Analyze factors such as production design, raw materials, and manufacturing methods to provide cost-saving recommendations.
- Prepare and present reports on pricing and product profitability.
- Collaborate with the sales department to assist in equipment pricing and maintain competitive rates.
- Update pricing in the system and develop pricing matrices.
- Conduct variance analysis and resolve any discrepancies in cost data.
- Provide costing support to customer service for pricing and make parts reviews.
- Generate monthly Cost Shipment reports and ensure compliance with government regulations.
- Foster cross-departmental collaboration to streamline cost reporting and ensure accuracy.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; 7+ years of experience in cost accounting (preferably in manufacturing).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook; experience with Made2Manage (M2M) is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to work with large datasets.
- Effective time management and organizational skills to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Ability to independently investigate and resolve costing issues.
