Title: Leasing Agent
Department: Operations
Reports To: Manager, Sales & Leasing
Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Compensation: $20-22 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
Position Summary & Primary Responsibilities:
The Leasing Agent is responsible for supporting leasing activities and ensuring subsequent move‐in processes are followed appropriately. This position works closely with other Leasing Department team members as well as other Operational Departments to maintain expected occupancy levels at the locations they serve. In addition, this position is responsible for the following:
- Provides tours of homes and communities to potential residents for purpose of leasing
- Keeps accurate records of phone, email, and walk‐in traffic utilizing computer software
- Pursues and processes leads in a timely manner, utilizing electronic tracking methods
- Prepares and processes rental applications
- Prepares leases for qualified potential residents
- Assists with Marketing activities, ensuring Affordable Housing Marketing Practices are being followed
- Conducts market surveys, utilizing market data software when appropriate
- Tracks anticipated turnover, communicating upcoming availability to others in the Leasing Department
- Schedules maintenance teams to prepare vacant units for residency
- Communicates upcoming move‐outs and move‐ins with internal departments, allowing them to schedule the appropriate inspections
- Maintains the interest lists for the locations they serve as well as the wait list for locations with a wait list requirement
- Complies with all Federal, State, and local Fair Housing regulations and ordinances
- Must be able to work on weekends or holidays as needed
- Acts as backup or additional support for other members of the Leasing Department as needed
- Assists with lease‐ups at newly built locations
- Performs other duties as assigned
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3 years experience in the property management industry
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent time management skills
- Knowledge of Fair Housing regulations
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people
- Ability to self-direct as well as work effectively on a team
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills
