Job Title: General Ledger Accountant
Location: Reston VA or Remote
About This Role
Responsible for accurately recording financial transactions in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Ensures financial commitments and contractual obligations are recorded and paid in a timely and efficient manner. Provides monthly internal management reporting, maintains financial transactions by departmental designations to support the budget reporting process, provides support to the SEC reporting process, and provides detailed schedules in support of the Internal and External Audit process.
What You'll Do
- Inputs data into accounting systems; types, files, posts ledger and general journal entries; checks and verifies accuracy of entries and transactions; handles data entry for multiple country codes on a daily basis.
- Owns smaller entities for full close cycle.
- Prepares monthly reconciliations for all Balance Sheet accounts and significant Income Statement accounts.
- Prepares month-end accruals.
- Ensures that transactions are reflected on the proper legal entity and in the correct currency.
- Manages policy and compliance process for assigned areas; actively seeks process improvements and proposes process changes.
- Prepares Audit schedules.
- Ensures compliance with SOX.
- Assists staff with ad-hoc requests and data gathering.
- Provides support for the Statutory Audits.
What You'll Need
- AA, BA/BS degree, or equivalent work experience.
- 2-3 years of Accounting experience.
- Basic quantitative and analytical skills.
- Experience applying GAAP standards.
- Strong Excel skills; working knowledge of MS Office suite.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good communication skills.
- Solid business ethics; ability to maintain strict confidentiality related to all of Comscore’s financial matters.
Compensation: $75,000-$76,800 Commensurate With Experience
