Position Summary
The Analyst Flight Ops Safety & Pilot ASAP supports Flight Operations compliance with JetBlue Safety Management System (SMS) policies, procedures, and risk controls. The Analyst Flight Ops Safety & Pilot ASAP will be responsible for the administration of Flight Operations Safety data and reports. The Analyst Flight Ops Safety & Pilot ASAP monitors and reports on the implementation of strategies, initiatives, and best practices, as directed by the Manager, Flight Operations Safety & SMS/Pilot ASAP, and will play a role in incident investigations and subsequent mitigation strategies.
Essential Responsibilities
• Manages Flight Operations Safety related data in internal databases
• Monitors and reports on implementation of programs and procedures to mitigate crewmember and aircraft incidents, as well as regulatory violations
• Conduct risk assessment of potential operational hazards
• Develop mitigation controls of identified hazards
• Supports the change management process for changes occurring within Flight Operations and external teams
• Serves as a liaison between Flight Operations and teams within Corporate Safety
• Ensures communication flow of information from Flight Operations Safety between Flight Operations Programs and JetBlue University College of Flight Operations
• Supports ground event investigations
• Analyzes data from events, self-assessments, inspections, and audits to identify trends and recommend corrective actions
• Supports root cause analysis and corrective action development to improve operational safety performance
• Assists in the administration of the Pilot Aviation Safety Action Program at the direction of the Manager, Flight Operations Safety & SMS/Pilot ASAP
• Additional duties to assist/facilitate essential responsibilities of the Manager, Flight Operations Safety & SMS/Pilot ASAP
• Collect information to facilitate event investigation and root cause analysis. Investigatory efforts will include, but not be limited to, conducting crewmember interviews, soliciting and reviewing written statements/reports, and researching technical reports and documents
• Ensure adherence to all Safety and Security regulations
• Other duties as assigned by the Manager, Flight Operations Safety & SMS/Pilot ASAP
Minimum Experience and Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in aviation safety, Aeronautical Science, Aviation Management, or another related field; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a combination of a High School Diploma/GED and four (4) years of previous relevant work experience
• One (1) year of data analysis experience
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
• Able to work evenings and weekends as needed to meet team deadlines
• Able to follow safety guidelines
• Able to perform under pressure and within fixed time constraints
• Available for occasional overnight travel (10%)
• Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
• Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
• Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
• One (1) year of employment experience with a Part 121 carrier
• One (1) year of experience with the Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP)
• Experience and/or training in the conduct of safety investigations, root cause analysis, and the identification of potential contributing Human Factors precursors
• Proficient in SharePoint, Microsoft Project, Visio, Tableau, and/or any other data visualization tools
• Must be able to communicate effectively to large groups, and to all levels of management and various departments

• Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short notice
• Able to maintain a professional appearance
• When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

• Must fulfill safety accountabilities as prescribed by JetBlue’s Safety Management System
• Promote JetBlue’s #1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador, supporting JetBlue’s Safety Management System (SMS) components, Safety Policy, and behavioral standards
• Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents, or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems [Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report (SAR)]
• Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures, and risk controls
• Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities
